Scott Maslen nearly killed a man

Read about this in The Daily Mirror today. You can read a shorter article over on Digital Spy and we've copied it below.
"EastEnders star Scott Maslen has revealed that he once feared he had killed a man during a street fight.

The actor, who plays Jack Branning in the BBC One soap, admitted that he hit the man with a steel pipe when he was a teenager, after arriving to back up a friend who was being racially abused.

He told The Mirror: "I met him there and he knocked on their door. He received a complete tirade of racist abuse from this 40-something geezer, the father of some of the boys. We were just 16. I was about 15st and had just been sitting on the wall listening.

"Suddenly it had all gone off and turned very nasty. The father went back in the house, I thought to call the police, but actually came back outside with a baseball bat. One of the kids pulled a bit of steel piping from a nearby skip. He swung it into my ribs, then into the side window of a car.

"I was an animal trapped up a dead end street. Somehow I grabbed the piping, went back up the street and whacked the dad. We ran off. It was a mad two minutes. I stayed up that night studying for my O level history exam the next day but all the time in the back of my mind thinking 'maybe I killed him'."

Maslen, currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing, also revealed that he once got involved in football violence as a teenager."

The article also mentioned that Scott used to be a model. You can see some of his modelling pictures here.

Ten Years Ago at this moment...

Ten years ago at this moment, Ciaran Griffiths (or Dean Sykes as he was in the show) was holding up Freshco's in Coronation Street in an hour long post-watershed episode. Dean was shot dead in the same episode. This was about a year and a half before Ciaran joined The Bill as dim-witted PC Gary Best in 2002.

Scott Maslen: "I'll wear Speedos"

From Digital Spy

"Scott Maslen has revealed that he plans to wear a pair of Speedos to win extra votes on Strictly Come Dancing.

The EastEnders actor, who was named 'Sexiest Male' at the Inside Soap Awards last week, told Closer magazine that he hopes to make fans go "weak at the knees".

"I've got a little Speedo number on the show," he said. "I'm sure it's going to make my female fans weak at the knees."

He continued: "I won't wax, but I will trim - I have to tame the beast!"

The 39-year-old and partner Natalie Lowe scored 29 points for their "raunchy" first dance on the BBC show last weekend."

If this does happen, it wouldn't be the first time that Scott's stripped down for public viewing. You can see some of his most revealing shots below.

Scott on Strictly - Week #1

Performing the waltz with partner Natalie Lowe last night, here were Scott Maslen's judge comments:

Len: (7) "When you look at waltz, you look at the hold. It was good. You look at posture. It was good. Your footwork was a little bit hit and miss here and there and I'm not sure if it was a tad on the raunchy side. I've never said that about a waltz before. I'm dreading the rumba! Very well done."

Bruno: (8) "Scott! You took to the stage with the true assurance of a leading man. Strong, dramatic, romantic and a frisson of sexuality running right through it. A lot of ladies will be going to make a cup of tea right now. Like Len said, I can't wait for the rumba! Bring it on!"

Craig: (6) "A few points, the hands cupped like puppets, the arms were slightly laboured. But I thought it was dangerously dramatic actually."

Alesha: (8) "Wow! Len is right. The waltz is traditionally romantic, but I liked the sexed-up version. It was spicy, it was good. You moved around the floor effortlessly and you've set a really high standard for yourself. I'm really looking forward to seeing you next week."

He had an overall total of 29 points. The highest of the night was 31 awarded to Matt Baker and Aliona Vilani and Pamela Stephenson and James Jordan.

Watch to rewind?

We received a little hint last week that Watch would be rewinding their broadcasts of The Bill back to some point in the 90's, we weren't told when exactly but that it would be sometime soon. And with online listings saying the same generic information about the show it seems even more likely.

But this morning The Bill's second 10am episode was taken off the air and replaced with Animal Park. Now Watch are hardly going to cancel repeat broadcasts of The Bill as it's one of their most successful shows, so can we expect a rewind from Monday? The timing would be perfect considering that the last episode broadcast was from New Year's Eve 2008.

What time in the 90's would you like to go back to?
